Field Hockey is not officially national sport of India confirm by Indian Government, specially Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports (MYAS) through Right to Information (RTI) by responsing to queries filed by citizens, notably in 2020 which dispel or banish popular myth.

Indian people play and support many sports which reflects India's diverse sporting culture and Indian Government policy aims to support, encourage and promotes all sports equally, due to this reason India not have any official National sports.

Field Hockey is widely
considered as National sport of India due to
its glorious historical dominance and success in its Golden years
(1928-1959) in which India
