In 1963, India National Pledge India's Oath of Allegiance was first read in a school in Visakhapatnam and subsequently translated into many regional languages. In 1964 in Bangalore, under chairman M.C. Chagla of Central Advisory Board on Education meeting, directed that pledge should be read in schools from next republic day and that next republic day was 26th January 1965.

On 26th January 1965, Government of India adopted India's Oath of Allegiance as National Pledge of India because it encourage love for country and make brotherhood among diverse people of different casts, regions and languages. It value nation's rich heritage, encourages respect for elders and also encourages to become worthy citizens. It also reminds or motivate Indian citizens to serve the nations progress and prosperity. This oath or pledge connect people to homeland. Due to this, Government of India adopted India National Pledge India's Oath of Allegiance to increase patriotism among people of India.
