From then India National Emblem Lion capital of Ashoka is using as official seal of government of India and also appears on official documents, currency and passports:-

Ashoka have four
asiatic lions which are mounted back to back on a circula base
facing different directions
symbolizes power, pride, courage, abilities, judgement, hard work and confidence.
Circular base have lion of North
represents enlightenment, Horse of West symbolizes
steed used when Buddha left fortress, Bull of South signifies zodiac sign (Taurus) of Buddha and
agricultural labour and Elephant of East represents dream of Buddha's
mother of white elephant in her conception separated by wheels
(Dharmachakra) which represents Universal law.
